Do you want to have a say in how Florida spends its hefty share of the mortgage settlement from back in February? Well, today is your last chance.
The Florida Attorney General’s Office will continue to take suggestions via email or phone call throughout the day on how to spend the $300 million that the state has been allotted for aiding homeowners who found themselves foreclosed upon as a result of “robo-signing” practices.
As of last Thursday, there had already been suggestions submitted from a total of 1,500 individuals and groups.
Some of these included Florida Realtors, who requested that a third of the money be used for an affordable-housing trust fund, and U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who stated that some of the money should be used on debt counselors for home-owners.
If you have any suggestions or comments, you’ll have until 5 p.m. to make yourself heard by the Attorney General’s Office.
