Showing Your Home

When you find out that there is a perspective buyer who would like to view your home, how should you prepare your home for a showing? Here are a couple of key points to remember if you don’t have a lot of time to prepare:

  • Make sure everything is neat and tidy. It doesn’t have to be perfect but being clean is important.
  • Open blinds. Natural light is best. It also opens up your home and makes rooms appear larger.
  • Don’t forget to take out the garbage. Bad smells leave bad first impressions.
  • Leave your home.  Don't be home for any showings as it makes it uncomfortable for the potential buyers.

The most important tip on this list is the final one: Don't be home for showings.  No matter what you might think, buyer's hate when sellers are home during a showing.  Don't try to sell your own home; let the buyer's agent contact your listing agent with questions.
